Citadel Green Promise

We are dedicated to meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.

Sustainability has been an integral part of Citadel’s corporate culture since the firm was founded, and can be traced back to our founders’ fundamental belief that businesses should operate ethically as well as profitably. Today, our employee-owners insist that making a difference in our communities, improving health and safety standards, and reducing our environmental impacts are central to our core business strategy.

We are committed to creating a sustainable company for the long term and embedding sustainability factors into the core operations of Citadel’s business.

Many of our clients are implementing sustainable business standards, and we support those in the way that we conduct business. We offer a wide variety of sustainable options that can align with those standards, such as electronic data sharing to reduce paper consumption. We provide our services in a manner that seeks to significantly reduce our impact on the environment, and maintain total transparency on our sustainability challenges and opportunities. We have been able to achieve significant internal “green initiatives” and openly share our experiences so that our clients can carry these ideas to their firms.

In addition to a LEED® Platinum certified workplace, Citadel integrates sustainable principles and practices across many facets of the daily operation for our employees: reducing paper consumption and utilizing electronic communications, purchasing and utilizing “green” products, placing recycling stations in offices, offering telecommuting as an option for employees, promoting healthy lifestyle choices, encouraging use of mass transit as well as fuel efficient and alternative energy vehicles, making use of teleconferencing and video-conferencing to reduce travel, choosing vendors that support the company’s sustainability goals, and maintaining an interactive intranet site to share sustainability information, news and best practices.

We ask our suppliers to conduct their business relationships with Citadel under sound sustainability practices, and favor those suppliers that are able to offer this option.

Citadel also supports and encourages collaboration and partnership on sustainability initiatives in the communities where we do business. As a part of this effort, we are one of the original companies that formed the Corporate Partners Program of UCLA’s Institute of the Environment and Sustainability, and maintain an active role in this forward-thinking organization.
