PROTECTING WORKERS AT EXXON’S TORRANCE, CA REFINERY

When an operation runs 24-7, there’s more opportunity for hazardous working conditions and hazardous waste management. When Exxon reached out to our Health and Safety Consultants for environmental site assessments of their refinery in Torrance, CA, we provided a team of full-time, on-site staff to assist with various needs, from database management to environmental compliance.

Our on-site team was fully trained in the use of ExxonMobil software to help implement a database managing hazardous materials, such as asbestos and lead-based paints. Our staff conducted a regular job hazard analysis, which included: noise and confined space monitoring; hot air environments; ventilation surveys; safety audits; equipment maintenance and calibration; air sampling; both ionizing and non-ionizing radiation sampling; and general quality control. For the past four years, our on-site Citadel team logged over 64,000 hours and yet achieved the ExxonMobil Gold Safety Award without an OSHA record or first aid.
