Paola Gomez-Birenbaum is a California-licensed Professional Geologist with over 19 years of experience in environmental due diligence, subsurface investigation, and remediation. As Practice Leader at Citadel EHS, she oversees complex environmental projects and leads teams in delivering technically sound, regulatory-driven solutions for commercial and industrial clients.
Paola has extensive experience managing Phase I Environmental Site Assessments, Phase II investigations, and site characterization programs, as well as developing and implementing remedial strategies to support site closure. Her expertise includes groundwater monitoring and data analysis, underground storage tank (UST) site management, and coordination of regulatory compliance efforts.
She has led a wide range of remediation projects, including remedial excavations, in-situ chemical oxidation, soil vapor extraction, and the design and construction oversight of monitoring and remediation systems. Paola works closely with regulatory agencies across California – including RWQCBs, DTSC, and local CUPAs – to navigate complex requirements and successfully achieve site closure.
Throughout her career, Paola has supported the closure of numerous commercial and industrial sites, helping clients manage environmental risk while advancing redevelopment and operational goals.
